Society for Transplant Social Work Membership

The Society for Transplant Social Workers is a professional organization dedicated to clinical expertise through:

  • Building and advancing professional standards
  • Education and research on psychosocial issues
  • Access to clinical tools, resources and information
  • Collaboration and peer support

Our members encompass all areas of solid organ transplant, including living donor social workers and advocates. Mechanical circulatory support and vascular composite allograft social workers are also integral members of our group.

General Membership & Associate Membership - $100

Student Membership - $30

  • 1 year
  • Available to individuals in an accredited social work program and participating in field placement in a transplant/MCS setting.  Proof of student status required to be submitted in membership application.

Membership Requirements

Requirements for GENERAL MEMBERSHIP with STSW:

  • Baccalaureate degree in social work, or
  • Graduate degree in social work

AND

  • Currently employed at a transplant or mechanical circulatory support (MCS) setting.

General members can vote, hold office, serve on the board and be on committees.

Requirements for ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP with STSW:

  • Baccalaureate degree in social work and working in the transplant/MCS field, or
  • Baccalaureate and/or graduate degree in fields other than social worker but currently employed in the transplant/MCS field, or
  • Baccalaureate and/or graduate degrees in social work but not currently employed in the transplant/MCS field.

Associate members can vote, serve on the board and serve on committees but may not hold office.

If you are working in an OPO or health care setting other than transplant or MCS, please be aware that all STSW membership benefits are geared towards professional needs in the solid organ transplant programs.

Requirements for STUDENT MEMBERSHIP with STSW:

  • Enrolled in an accredited social work program and participating in field placement in transplant/MCS setting.

Student members may serve on committees, but may not hold office, serve on the board or vote.

STSW is an international organization and welcomes transplant social workers from all over the world that meet the membership requirements.
